Tomorrow, our dear Ladies and Gentlemen, is the holiest of unholy traditions: The Swedish Midsummer!! For ages and ages, we Swedes have been celebrating the tradition of Midsummer manically. Everyone flees the cities, out to the countryside where smorgasbords (tables filled with food) are set in every garden and music is being heard from every little cottage. As a tribute to the solace, the forever sun-thirsting Swedes all take the day out to stuff themselves with herring, potatoes, meatballs, beer and snaps.
Hence, the Happy Sock headquarters wishes you all a very, very Happy Midsummer full of sun, love and Happy Socks! We also want to take the opportunity to give you all a classic, Swedish herring recipe:
600 grams of herring filets
2 deciliters of mustard
3 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of vinegar
4 tablespoons of oil
3 tablespoons of dill
Cut the filets into slices. Mix all the ingredients into a sauce. Put the herring in a bowl and pour the sauce over the slices. Put the bowl in the fridge overnight.
